Shukuu Izakaya @ stanley street

An Izakaya (居酒屋) is a type of informal Japanese drinking establishment that serves food to accompany the drinks. They are casual places for after-work. There is a newly opened (less than 6 months) Izakaya at Stanley street called Shukuu Izakaya. So far, I have visited twice and both visits leave good impression either with the food or the service. It is opened by a group of young local Singaporean. Their service was excellent and attended our request with sincere. The beer cost around $5.50 which was relatively cheap. The must order food was squid ink batter squid tempura. (very special as my first time seeing tempura in black colour skin) The squid taste great as well. Another dish was the parmesan chizu chips paired with cherry tomato and honey, nice combination taste. Next, the mini negitoro don was heavenly. One of my friends not a fan of negitoro, after eating it became her favourite dish of the night. They do served good yakitori and the cold yuzu soba was worth mentioning. So far all the dishes I had was very special and taste great. The price is a bit on the high side just to take note but I felt is worth it. The owner will personally attend to customer request and give advice for the ordering of food. Will revisit again for sure.
