Miscellaneous food 2

Its been a long time since I last post. Let me introduced 3 stores that I have been to for the past few weeks. More to come. First one will be Baker's Oven Patisserie. You can check it out at http://www.bakersoven.com.sg/. It is a halal pastry shop. Something worth mentioning are the carrot cake and some of the cheese cake. Give it a try when you planning to organise a small party or gathering at home.

Second on the post is Amici Authentic Italian Restaurant at Holland Village. It was a X'mas gathering with my Starhub colleague. (once a tele sales for starhub) It was fully packed when we arrived and it was like 8pm. We waited almost one hour before we get a table. We were famished by then. We ordered the squid ink pasta and crab meat pasta and a half dozen baked escargots. Indeed, we finished all the food within 45 minutes. Personally, I felt the food here is moderately good. I was thinking to myself is it because it is too crowded perhaps the standard of the food drop a little bit? Who know. I shall go again during non peak hour to try their pizza and dessert. Next I will like to recommend this little pastry from Liang Court. It is from Tampopo Deli located at the basement. It cost around $2. After eating, I find this pastry having a soft and spongy feel and the sweetness is just nice. Good! Recommend.

Dining at Seafood Paradise and Paradise Inn

A few weeks back, I visited two of the paradise group restaurant. They are Seafood paradise at changi airport outlet and paradise inn at funan it mall outlet. There are total 7 restaurant under paradise groups and I have been to 5. Taste paradise and paradise dynasty (sell the colourful xiao long bao) both at Ion Orchard and last one will be kungfu paradise.
The first one is at paradise inn. Their services were good and prompt. The food is good especially the boiled soup. very 補! The soup can serve up to 4 pax comfortably and is still hot as there is heat below the pot. The braised pork bun is nice too. Not too oily and the taste is good. They have other dishes which I will like to try next time. Their floral tea is another special beverages I will recommend as there are health benefit coming with it. Take it after the dinner as it will perhaps help to ease digestion.

Second on the list will be seafood paradise. We went to the branch at changi airport. It was very quiet and not too many people. Their service was excellent too. I will definitely come back for more! will like to try their crabs. Look yummy. Their fishhead curry spicyness is just nice taking into account I cannot stand spicy food. The curry gravy is very good to go with rice as it is fragrant and nice. The fish head is fresh and the tau pok is tasty too as it is soaked with the gravy. Thumb up for the fish head curry. We ordered a second dish which was the egg tofu with crab meat roe. Very nice too! highly recommended!

Pique Nique at takashimaya

On boxing day of 2011, I went to Pique Nique located at takashimaya beside KFC. It was a new cafe that served breakfast, burgers and desserts. we tried their omelette and poached egg with toast and butter. Omelette was not too bad. There were potato, mushroom, ham and cheese. As for the poached egg, it took awhile to serve to us. I like my omelette as I am a egg lover. Haha. As for the poached egg, it was a bit over whelming towards the end. They served good macaron. Thumb up. It was really good. Give it a try for the macaron! I will come back again and try on their burgers.

New waffle shop @ thomson road

Last week during X'mas day, we went to wafflelicious at thomson road. It was packed with people. Fortunately, there were enough seats for 5 of us. It is a quite a new shop. Although I am dieting, I still cannot resist the temptation of dessert. I had a few small square of waffles and a few mouthful of ice-cream. By the name of this shop, you know that surely this shop goona have plenty creation with regards to waffles. It had a couple of choices for the waffle such as strawberry waffles, chocolate waffles and a few more. The ordering process at the counter would be to choose the waffles flavour followed by ice cream flavour and add toppings if you want. I ordered the orginial wafflle with raspberry cheesecake ice cream with peach toppings. The waffles is average but the ice cream is nice together with the peach. I will still come here for more and bring my friends here.

Steamboat at Jpot (vivocity) and Tan Yoto (Liang court)

I am hereby writing this post to recommend 2 steamboat restaurant that I have went recently. The first one is Tan Yoto (谭鱼头)@ Liang court and the second one is Jpot @ vivo city.
website: http://www.jpot.com.sg/
A few weeks ago, I had bought a deal at http://www.deal.com.sg/ for a steamboat set for 2 at discounted price. I had wanted to try this steamboat for quite some time until this fascinating deal caught my eyes. Upon reaching, we choose 2 soup base which are the tomato and ma la soup base. The tomato soup base was very special as it was my first time trying it. Personally, I find the tomato soup base very appetising. There is one corner where you can mix and match the different ingredients to make up the sauce. For that, I feel there are a lack of variety of ingredients compare to the Jpot and the sauce is not that outstanding too. The set consist of beef, fish, vermicelli-like noodle, bean curd skin, wu xiang, pan cake and enoki mushroom. In addition, I ordered a 4 treasure meat ball from the ala-carte menu. As a whole, the food is fresh and with the food cooked in the tomato soup base, the taste was much enhanced. The restaurant also serve late night supper buffet around 30+. Please call to make reservation to avoid disappointment. One more plus point for this restaurant is they provide disposable apron so as to avoid dirtying the clothing.

A special noodle which taste like vermicelli

Beef (My favourite)

The second one will be the Jpot (Jumbo Branch) located at vivo city. I went there as there are promotion for standard chartered credit card. I will recommend people to try this ala carte steamboat, however is a bit pricey but definitely worth it. There are a few soup base to choose from. I choose clear soup and June BB choose Bak Ku Teh soup. The Bak Ku Teh soup is very pepperish. (slightly below expectations). I love the place where you can mix your own sauce for the food. You can choose from a variety of ingredients like parsely, garlic, soya sauce and many more. I ordered some ala carte dishes from the menu. The food itself is nice and is fresh. If you like steamboat, definitely you must not miss this 2 places. http://www.jpot.com.sg/index.html
