My little spanish place @ Bukit Timah

Restaurant week is back again. My love for Spain has triggered me to learn Spanish, my dream to travel to Spain and to try Spanish food for the first time. So this time round, I choose Spanish food. The restaurant, My little Spanish place, is located at bukit timah (near to coronation plaza). It is a small place at most can accommodate up to around 40 people. As for the menu, it is fixed except for the mains (paella choices between seafood or seafood/chicken). In additional, I ordered a Sangria and a glass of white wine for June.
The Starters consist of some Tapas: potato omelette (I like), pork skewers, forest mushroom with bread and   a kind of fish with bread. We choose seafood/chicken paella as our mains. It is a bit salty however the seafood was fresh and it taste great. The Sangria was good to go with the food. Lastly, the dessert is a home-made almond ice cream with meringue. The ice cream is good but I not a fan of meringue so I give it to June. I  will definitely be interested to try other Spanish food in the future.

Delicious cake @ scott square

This is a new cake shop located at the basement of scott square. It is called Delicious cake. This place not only serves cake, it also serves some main like pasta or some western. We ordered 3 cakes to share, chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream, carrot cake and macadamia cheesecake. Overall, the cakes are considered good. Can consider this place for a afternoon tea session if you are nearby orchard road.

Red Star dim sum (Chin Swee road)

Two weeks ago, met up with friends (ex-colleague) to red star dim sum for a rare breakfast. My second time there. It is located at chin swee road, level 7. It was always fully packed with people so you need to come early to avoid queuing for too long. The dim sum is inside this traditional push cart where the auntie will push the cart around and you can see what you want and order from her. Each push cart has its own variety, so there will be surprise when you wait for the next one while eating your food. It serves a lot of variety of dim sum: Har gow, siew mai, char siew bun, century egg porridge, prawn dumplings, paper wrapped with chicken, egg tart, carrot cake, pork rib, chicken feet, mix roast selection, liu sha bao and many more. One of my favourites in dim sum is always char siew bun. The carrot cake, prawn dumpling and the paper wrapped with chicken taste great. This place remain favourite for many people where traditional push cart style dim sum is concerned. I recommend people to go and give it a try and probably you will love it and start to go around looking for your favourite dim sum on the push cart.

Arnold Chicken at City plaza (around Paya Lebar area)

2 weeks ago, I went to try out the arnold chicken inside old shopping centre (City Plaza). It is kind of popular among the malay as it is halal and famous for the chicken. Upon arriving at around 9pm at the night, the restaurant is still packed with people and there are still a few people queuing. First you need to get a queue number, followed by ordering of the food once you have decided. We waited for our queue number for awhile, finally there is seat for us. It took a while before our food came. I ordered a half spring chicken set and June ordered a 3 piece chicken set (one piece is mine!) The set come with fries and coleslaw. Smoke come out from the chicken when I tear the chicken into half. Hot! The chicken meat is very tender and taste excellent. There are 2 more outlets in Singapore. Give it a try if you love fried chicken, you will not regret! Thumb Up

Sakuraya fish mart @ parkway parade

2 weeks ago, June and I went to this Japanese super market style restaurant called Sakuraya for some really nice sashimi and sushi. There are a few outlets in Singapore, we went to the one at parkway parade. The place is small so you have to wait awhile if it is fully packed during peak hours. We ordered the sashimi, grilled fish, negitoro hand-roll, salmon sushi and cold soba. Sashimi consist of tuna, salmon and the most impressive of all octopus, tako. The tako taste so sweet and the springiness of the meat is just nice. The best tako sashimi so far. As for the salmon and tuna sashimi, it is considerably good. There is still other choices of fish (bluefin tuna Expensive) or seafood (sea urchin) to choose from. The handroll is as good too. Definitely going back for more Japanese food. Recommend to try!

M hotel Steamboat buffet

Finally, I have visited M hotel for the steamboat buffet. My first time eating steamboat at a hotel. It must be very worth waiting for and must have some specialities. Upon our arrival, we were being greeted by the staff and ushered us to our seat. Friendly staff. There are 3 or 4 different soup base to choose from. We ordered pork rib and chicken soup base. You can choose up to 3 soup base and the pot can be divided into 3 portions. First, there is a station serving drunken prawn. The prawn is fresh with a bit of sweet taste. next, we went to look at the ingredients for our steamboat. There are small pomfret (so special), crabs, scallops, mussels, clams and shellfish. Fish, chicken wings and some meat for shabu shabu are also the mains. There are also yong tau foo (hotdog, tofu, fishball, meatball and some beancurd skin wrapped with fish cake), fish maw, corn (very sweet) and some herb for the soup like dang gui and wolfberry. Noodles and vegetables are available as well. Lastly, there is desserts too. Priced at around 50++ for a steamboat at hotel is considerably expensive. The service crew is very prompt in clearing your plate and the ambience is nice too. You can pampered yourself if you want to try this steamboat once.

An indian stall near sembawang road D'Rubinah

Some weeks ago, Liqi introduced me to this indian stall near my house. He is full of praises for the food. We ordered Ice teh, Garlic Naan, Thosai, bee hoon goreng and butter chicken. Indeed, the taste of the garlic naan is very special and smell good. As for the butter chicken, the gravy is buttery and is good to go with white rice. Lastly is the thosai with masala chicken and bee hoon goreng. The bee hoon goreng is good however the thosai I will rate it as average only. The price is quite economic so people can give it a try for indian food if you are nearby to sembawang and it is open for 24 hours. Important note: Indian food eat moderately, do not eat too much. :)

Hokkaido Fair 2012

That day, I went to Isetan scott to visit the hokkaido fair. Hokkaido is one of the places I definitely will go soon. Japan food is one of my favourite and is very yummy. Below are the few food that I bought during the fair. Although the price is a bit pricey, but is definitely worth it. Wait for the next fair den!

Cheese stick (excellent!)

Croquette (Crab and potato flavour)
