CNY

Late post again. During CNY, 捞鱼生 (Lo hei) is a popular cultural activity and altogether I do it 9 times in total. for this year. Twice in GSK (current company), twice at home, once at June BB house, once at jiahui house, once at mirin house, once at June colleague house and lastly at Ligin house. Yu sheng symbolise good fortune and prosperity. So let's see what does each ingredients symbolise:
  1. - red items (carrot, red yam, red ginger):
  2. - green items (cucumber, green yam):
  3. - white radish (daikon):
  4. - pok chui crackers:
  5. - pomelo:
  6. - cinnamon powder:
  7. - Chinese 5-spice powder:
  8. - plum sauce:
  9. - crushed roasted peanuts:
  10. - roasted sesame seeds:
  11. - olive oil:
  12. - white pepper powder:
  13. - raw fish slices:
  14. - abalone slices:

We had our reunion dinner at home. But this time round, it is different from the previous few years where we had steamboat cum BBQ.  We ordered our food from THE CATHAY chinese restaurant, a five course menu consists of 盆菜,煲翅炖鸡汤,糯米饭,鱼生 and 年糕. The sharkfin broiled with chicken soup is the most delicious among the rest of the dishes. Some pictures taken during CNY.....
